Mollington village hall Thursday 4.00-5.00 pm
Squirrels are our youngest members, and generally meet for an hour per week. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout sleepover with their friends.
The Squirrel Drey is the second youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old. There is core flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 4, and can move to Beavers between age 5 3/4 and 6 1/2.
Structure
A Squirrel Drey may be organised into smaller groups called Nests. Nests can be used in a number of ways to facilitate the organisation of the Squirrel Scout Drey. They may provide a ‘home’ area for Squirrel Scouts to gather at points at the start, during or at the end of the Drey meeting.
Activities
The Squirrels take part in a variety of activities from week to week that may include games, exploring, investigating or even having a visitor. We use the Scout hall as a base as well as working in our own Scout garden and the surrounding grounds of the Academy. The programme is planned to include core badgework, incorporate specific events, build links with our local community and the World around us. We aim to offer our Squirrels a variety of activities and experiences that are fun and appeal to their interests, keep them motivated and give them new insights. The Drey is a wonderful place to gain confidence in being independent and make new friends too!
